KEY STAKEHOLDERS
WHO ARE THE STAKEHOLDERS?
Trees VA is impacted by a multitude of stakeholders, predominantly categorized into two groups: those focused on Environmental Protection and those involved in Local Governance. This alignment with the organization's goals is logical, considering Trees VA's responsibility to reconcile the interests of the built and natural environments. Given the organization's close connection to environmental health, the majority of stakeholders are positioned downstream. This deliberate choice is aimed at preventing unnecessary complexity in representing actors who impact the broader environment. While delving into the specifics of each stakeholder's role might be burdensome, it is crucial to emphasize the diversity of stakeholder groups influencing the organization.
The most important stakeholder groups to Trees VA have their own seats on the board of directors of the organization. Labeled 'Board Member's Parent Org', these stakeholders are in charge of the operations of the organizations. A seat on the board ensures that the stakeholder group is represented through the activities of Trees VA, and provides Trees VA with dedicated resources. Ranging from local electricity companies to federal departments and even a university, Trees VA has a diverse board that represents a plethora of desires, all balanced and uplifted by each other.
The stakeholder groups on the board of directors are not the only ones affected by the organization. The other stakeholder groups were identified by analyzing the Trees VA website's events page. Since the mechanism of change is through the organization's events, each event was cataloged to identify the stakeholders who were affected by them. https://www.treesvirginia.org/services/events. Both board and non-board stakeholder groups were then organized in the table below.
